It starts as a drawing
Nothing here is picked off an importer's catalogue. The Sapphire Tuck was drawn in our Mumbai studio: the sweep of the back, the roll of the arms, the run of the tufting, the height the seat has to sit at for the curve to look right in a room.
The curve is set out at full size before a single length of timber is cut, so the shape you see on the drawing is the shape that leaves the workshop.

Then it becomes timber
The frame is seasoned hardwood, Burma teak where the piece calls for it — the Sapphire Tuck does. Teak is chosen for the same reason it has always been chosen in India: it stays put. It does not warp with a Mumbai monsoon or a Delhi summer, and it holds a screw for decades.
The joinery is the part you will never see and never have to think about. It is cut, glued and braced so the frame outlives the fabric wrapped around it.

Built up in layers
A sofa is only as comfortable as what sits between you and the frame. Webbing first, then sinuous springs across the seat, then foam shaped to the curve, then a layer of wadding so the fabric reads smooth rather than tight over the edges.
Each layer is cut for this piece. On a curved sofa a straight template shows immediately — the seams tell on you.

What sits between you and the frame

The tufting is geometry
Channel-like button tufting runs across the back and the seat. The buttons are set out on a grid and pulled by hand, one at a time, so the folds between them fall evenly and in the same direction across the whole curve.
Nailhead trim then follows the outer arm, spaced by eye and by rule, sharpening the outline of the piece.

Your cloth, not ours
The Sapphire Tuck is shown in a deep teal, but the fabric is a choice, not a fixed part of the design. Anything from our library goes on it, and so does cloth you send us yourself.
Fabric up to ₹1,000 a metre is included in the price. Above that we bill the cloth as per actuals, and tell you the number before we cut.

Packed like it is irreplaceable
Six to seven weeks of work should not end with a scratch. The piece is foam-wrapped, cushioned, corner-guarded, boxed and — for premium pieces — crated in 12 mm plywood on a pallet.
Quality-check photographs are taken before dispatch, the shipment is fully insured, and our team places the sofa in your room and takes the packaging away.
- 2–5 mm EPE foam and 10–20 mm bubble wrap
- High-density corner guards on every edge
- 5-ply / 7-ply double-wall cartons, 2–3 in buffer
- 12 mm plywood crate and pallet for premium pieces
- QC photographs recorded, shipment fully insured
